Terrestrial Awarded $2.2M in Massachusetts State Grants to Scale Microarray Patch Manufacturing
BOSTON, June 4, 2026 — Terrestrial, a biotech company transforming the delivery of next-generation therapies with the Tacterra™ microarray patch (MAP) platform, has received two Massachusetts state grants totaling more than $2.2 million to expand manufacturing operations and create workforce opportunities in the Commonwealth.
Terrestrial was named an inaugural recipient of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center's (MLSC) BioBoost Award, receiving $1,417,560 in non-dilutive funding to support commercial-scale manufacturing facility development. Additionally, Terrestrial was awarded $850,000 through the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2), a program of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM), a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech), as part of a $1.85 million round of Healey-Driscoll Administration awards to three Massachusetts manufacturers.
"Massachusetts has long held a leadership position in biopharma and life sciences innovation, and these investments reflect the state's commitment to ensuring that leadership only continues to grow stronger," said Rachel Sha, CEO of Terrestrial. "This funding is pivotal for Terrestrial as we build out a world-class manufacturing facility in Boston and continuing our presence in Woburn. We're proud to call Massachusetts home, and these awards ensure we'll be doing so for years to come."
This funding comes at a time of significant growth for the Terrestrial. In March, the company announced it signed a lease with King Street Properties for its new headquarters and manufacturing facility at Allston Labworks. The space will span more than 40,000 square feet, supporting automated, scaled production of the company’s microarray patches for late-stage clinical development and early commercial entry. As Terrestrial builds out its new manufacturing facility beginning in 2026, it will incorporate leading automation, robotics, computer vision, and quality control processes.
About Terrestrial Bio, Inc.
Terrestrial is transforming the delivery of next-generation therapies, starting with GLP-1.
Terrestrial's proprietary microarray patch (MAP) and applicator platform consists of a patch resembling an adhesive bandage, which is applied with a preloaded applicator and removed after a few minutes. Once applied, each patch delivers bioactive tips into the skin, which dissolve quickly into the body, rapidly releasing their therapeutic payload. Designed for self-administration, the temperature-stable MAP platform enables precise, controlled delivery of a wide range of therapeutics without medical sharps or refrigeration.
Terrestrial has generated strong clinical and in-vivo proof of concept across multiple molecules. For more information, visit www.terrestrialbio.com.
